About the Role:

Join our client’s Parks & Open Spaces team to help maintain some of Melbourne’s most vibrant public environments. As a Parks Maintenance Officer, you’ll carry out programmed maintenance, improvement and beautification works across reserves, streetscapes and recreation areas to help ensure parks are clean, safe and welcoming for the Hume City community.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Perform mowing, trimming, pruning and general park maintenance duties
• Operate plant and equipment such as tractors, front deck mowers, brush-cutters and trucks safely and efficiently
• Maintain cleanliness across assigned areas by removing litter, debris and tree limbs prior to mowing
• Conduct weed control and spraying applications following safe work practices
• Assist with planting and tree maintenance programs
• Report hazards, vandalism or damage to assets
• Contribute to data collection, service improvement and asset management reporting
• Ensure work sites comply with traffic management and safety standards

Requirements:

• Certificate II (or higher) in Horticulture/Turf Management (essential)
• MC Licence (essential)
• Traffic Control / Roadwork Signage accreditation (essential)
• Valid Police Check (essential)
• Experience operating tractors, mowers, trucks and related machinery
• Experience in maintaining and further improving parks, reserves and horticultural assets
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
