Resume Tips

On average, it takes a prospective employer 6 seconds to decide whether they will read through your entire resume. Review some of our key tips to help you stand out.

  • Include your most recent and most relevant experience first
  • List the next 3-4 roles and include duties and important details. After the third or fourth role, simply write the title of your position and dates of employment
  • Keep the length to no more than four pages, unless absolutely necessary
  • Include your education
  • Be succinct and to the point, do not write lengthy paragraphs.

  • Avoid Gaps
Long gaps between employment left unexplained should be avoided. Always be sure to give a brief explanation of any long periods between employment.
  • Tailor your resume to the job you are applying for
Be careful not include any information in your resume from previous applications. The tone of the entire resume should speak to job you are applying for.
  • Keep it simple
Your aim should always be to get your point across in as few words as possible. Don’t go overboard with excessive designs and formats that distract from the content of the resume. Keep the resume simple and easy to read, with your most recent and relevant experience first.
