Editorial Standards Officer
  • Mondays, Tuesdays & Thursdays (9:30am – 4:00pm)
  • Ending 31st March 2026 (w/ potential opportunity for extension)
  • Hours are flexible,and to some extent so are days

We are seeking a detail-oriented Editorial Standards Officer to join a busy CEO Unit within a large corporate services environment. This role is perfect for someone with strong writing, editing and template development skills who is passionate about improving the clarity and professionalism of business communications.

About the Role

In this role, you will support and advocate for the effective use of plain language and corporate templates across a wide range of business documents. You will review and proofread correspondence, reports, policies, newsletters and website content to ensure they are accurate, clear and accessible. You will also help enforce style and template use, while creating and editing forms in Word and PDF.

Key Responsibilities

  • Proofread and edit a variety of documents to ensure compliance with writing guidelines and style standards
  • Advocate for the use of plain language across all business communications
  • Develop and update templates in Microsoft Word and Adobe Acrobat
  • Create accessible forms in line with corporate standards
  • Support business process improvements and document management practices
  • Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders, providing feedback and guidance where required

What We’re Looking For

  • Proven experience in plain language writing, proofreading and editing
  • Strong Microsoft Word skills (templates, styles) and proficiency in Adobe Acrobat
  • High attention to detail and the ability to prioritise tasks independently
  • Experience with document/records management systems (CM and/or SharePoint)
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work with senior staff
  • Commitment to customer service and compliance
  • Current Class C driver’s licence
  • Experience in local or state government
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and managing ministerial correspondence
